Our Journey

The Story Behind Raceknit

How my lifelong passion for motocross and a simple idea led me to start RaceKnit.

The Beginning

WHERE MY PASSION BEGAN

Motocross has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Like most of us, I spent my early weekends at the track watching my dad, before getting a PW50 for my 4th birthday and starting to race at 6. Now at 26, I’ve never really had a break from it — it’s always been a huge part of my life.

The Vision

HOW RACEKNIT STARTED

After years of racing, I was fed up with knee brace socks that either slipped down or didn’t last. I’d always dreamed of starting a business in the industry I love, but as an electrical engineer, I never thought I would. Eventually, I gave it a shot. What started with knee brace socks quickly grew into more — mostly products I wanted for my own riding and training.

The Craft

TRIAL AND ERROR ( LOTS OF )

Getting the first samples made was a real eye-opener. What I thought would be straightforward definitely wasn’t. Coming into a completely new industry, I had a lot to learn — from materials and production methods to stitching techniques I didn’t even know existed. There were plenty of setbacks, but every sample got me closer to getting the products right.

The Launch

FROM SAMPLES TO STOCK

Once I was finally happy with the products, I placed my first orders and the stock started arriving. Still living at home, my mum and dad’s house quickly became overrun with RaceKnit boxes — every family member has some in their room, and I even managed to negotiate some space in the living room with my mum! But after all the work getting there, RaceKnit finally launched, and I was proud of what I’d created.

Where We Are Now

STILL A ONE-MAN BAND

RaceKnit is still very much a one-man band. Alongside my job as an electrical engineer, I’m the designer, product tester, model, marketer and the person packing every order. Seeing the brand slowly grow has been pretty surreal, but nothing quite compares to turning up at a track and seeing someone I don’t know wearing RaceKnit.

The Future

Always Evolving

There’s still a long way I want to take RaceKnit, but I’m proud of how far it’s come already. Being able to support and sponsor riders within the racing community has been one of the highlights so far. I’ve still got plenty of ideas, products I want to develop and things I want to achieve with the brand — and we’re only just getting started.
